What's on your Schedule?

Q: What's on your TV schedule for tonight?
A: LOST's season finale!!

I'm sooo into Lost. It's one of the few TV show (series) that I watch. Well, probably the only one. American Idol doesn't count b/c it's not a series. So... okay - it's the only one. I didn't start out watching it the first 2 seasons (okay- so kick me!). A friend of mine - a rather young one, since I used to babysit him - told me it was really, really, good. So I tried to watch it and was so lost that I decided to start at the very beginning (as Julie Andrews would sing). So, I did. One weekend my hubby and son were out of town. I rented the first DVD. I loved it. I rented the 2nd. Then they came home. I made them watch it and I rewatched it with them. That was how it started.

And on to other things!

Here are some cards I made last month for Creative Xpress. I used Basic Grey papers and the Cricut. If you need some Cricut inspiration, here's a blog that really opened my eyes on cool new ways to use my cricut cartridges -it's called Bitten By The Bug. Check it out!

Well - I'm off to get LOST today! Have a great day and weekend.

Enjoying Summer

I hope you are enjoying your summer. School has been out for over a week here in hot and humid Louisiana. My little miss has been enjoying this week outdoors at a all-day kids camp. She came home sooo sweaty yesterday - but oh, so tired. She sure did sleep good.

I've been playing around with American Crafts today. I altered this wooden frame from Provocraft. I used a photo of my girl that I took at the park earlier this month. This is one of my Creative Xpress projects for this month.

Meanwhile, I've been catching up on some painting orders this month so I may be scarce in the next few weeks. Have a great week!

Stretching the Stamp Set

I challenged myself earlier this week to play with my new stamp set. I picked up these birthday stamps at Emma's Paperie and have been anxious to finally use them. I wanted to see how many different cards I could create using this one stamp set, and I also limited my patterned papers.

The blue papers are from Sweetwater's Summertime Blues collection. I was inspired by Fiona Carter's tutorial found here on the Pursuit of Craftyness blog. She used Ranger's Distress Crackle Paint in chipboard flowers. I didn't have any of the Ranger paint, so I did it the old fashioned way, using two paint colors and crackle. I like Fiona's better. I also used the Fiskars Threading Waters border punch.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Sweetwater (Summertime Blues)
Cardstock: Bazzill
Stamps:
Hampton Art (Best Birthday)
Ink: Close to My Heart (Outdoor Denim)
Trim: Melissa Frances
Punch: Fiskars
Other: Paint, crackle finish, jute

On these "pink" cards, I used Basic Grey's Sultry papers and a few other embellishments.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Basic Grey (Sultry)
Cardstock: Bazzill
Stamps:
Hampton Art (Best Birthday)
Ink: Ranger (Cranberry) and Clearsnap (Chestnut Roan)
Chipboard: Basic Grey and Paper Salon
Die Cut: Provocraft Cricut (Home Essentials)
Buttons, Ribbon
Punch: Fiskars

I hope I inspired you to create some card sets with the wonderful stamp sets in your stash. I had a blast and can't wait to do some more. I'd love to see what YOU do to stretch your stamps. Share your links here. Have a great day!

School is out...

Gosh - I'm so behind on updating my blog! So.... school is out here in Louisiana. At least for my kids. We've been adding bird feeders to the back yard and my little one has been spending many hours looking through the Peterson Bird Book field guide. What's so funny is that I used to look through my dad's copy of this book when I was younger. She's the one that says "Look, Mom - a hummingbird is here" not long after we put out our first feeder.

So - on to creations. I haven't been able to create as much as I would like, but I did recently play with my Inque Boutique stamps. The first card uses the "French Quarter" set along with the "Birthday" stamps. The papers are Basic Grey.

This card uses the Inque Boutique "French Quarter" set again. Papers are We R Memory Keepers.

Today is ballet portrait day. Tomorrow is ballet rehearsal right during the Season Finale of American Idol! Anyone want to text message me who the winner is while I'm sitting in the theater? Just text me "DA" or "DC". Hopefully "DC".

Have a great day!

Stamping with Watercolor

I hope your Mother's Day was relaxing and special.

I just wanted to share a card I made using watercolor paints and heat embossed stamping. The girls at the Pursuit of Craftyness Blog have been participating in a Celebration of Color for the month of May. They've been sharing various ways to color images. You really need to check it out.

It was my turn to post today. There is a tutorial for the card above and another project. You can read the tutorial
here.

That's all for today. Have a wonderful Monday!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers. I hope that you enjoy your day. This is just a quick post to honor all the moms.

Here's a few cards for the special day.

The one on top uses Graphic 45 paper and tag.

Both of these cards were made for challenges at
Paper Posies 3rd anniversary celebration. The first uses Melissa Frances and Graphic 45 paper and tag, Paper Salon stamps.

This card was for another card challenge at Paper Posies. Papers are Fancy Pants and Melissa Frances. Ribbon is SEI, and again, Paper Salon stamps (those 'mom' stamps sure come in handy in may!)

We're just taking it easy today, spending time with one of the wonderful mom's in our lives. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.

The speed limit is 15 degrees

Mom, the speed limit here is 15 degrees.

That's what I heard from my little on the way to school yesterday. Doesn't that just make you smile?

I've been an absent-blogger this week. I've been busy. The school season is winding down and it seems like every week there is something going on. And it feels like summer. Tomorrow should be in the 90's. Yes, 90's. I know some of my fellow paper crafters have just had another round of snow. Ohh...dear. I'd trade for some cooler weather... just a bit longer.

Well - I have to say "Congratulations" to all the grads, including my friend's daughter, Heather. Way to go!

I made this card using the March Scarlet Lime kit, and the Sketch made by Sonda. Sorry it took me so long to play!

Everyone have a great and wonderful weekend and a Happy Mother's Day to all the moms.

Trying to Catch up

I'm trying to catch up on:
-housework
-sleep
-projects
-more housework

I thought I was going to have some free time to play and create just for fun - but that never seems to happen. I think I'm officially done with my list of paper craft projects that I "must do" but as soon as I clean up my space - I'm sure something else will come along.

*sigh*
Meanwhile - I'm off to do laundry and other chores, cook a meal for my son's bible study class and hopefully get to actually sit down and watch LOST tonight!!

Here's a little accordian fold card I made last night using my April Scarlet Lime kit. I added in a few other items.

Off to have lunch. Have a great day!
