While I'm Waiting...How about some of my Art?

While I'm waiting for hubby to come home so I can make a store run - how about a peek at my newest painting - listing TONIGHT!

This is 12" x 16" acrylic on gallery-wrapped stretched canvas - part of my fUnKy French Quarter New Orleans pieces.

If you are interested in this piece - holler at me and I'll send you the direct link.

And since I'm waiting to buy a few ingredients to make this wonderful cake (that actually has NO EGGS in it!) I thought I'd share the recipe. I know - you probably want photos but I haven't made it yet - but believe me - it's good!

Mexican Wedding Cake

2 cups flour
2 cups suger
15 oz can crushed pineapple, with liquid
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda

Combine all ingredients. Bake in 9x13 inch pan at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Ice.

Icing
1 stick Oleo
8 oz pkg. cream cheese
1 lb box powdered suger
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
Milk (add a little at a time to achieve proper consistency for icing.)

Let me know if you make this!!

Discover...

Discover: 1) to make known or visible : display
2)a: to obtain sight or knowledge of for the first time : find

I recently had the task of finding ways to be creative with the Cricut and Cuttlebug. My assignment for Creative Xpress was to create a layout and use these tools to create any embellishments other than buttons, brads, ribbon or jewels. (basically, anything that CAN be made with these tools, must be). Here's what I came up with:

Most of the elements were made with the Cricut Graphically Speaking and Accent Essentials Cartridge. The papers are Basic Grey. The butterflies were made using the Cuttlebug dies and embossing folder.

That's all for today. Looking forward to this weekend. Tonight I'm making Mexican Wedding Cake for a family gathering tomorrow. Have a great day!

Things You Love

I finally have a layout to share. This was done for the Dream Street blog. Since February is the month of love, we were creating love themed pages. This one is about things my daughter loves at she turns another year older. I used the Forever Family papers, and one of my favorites - my Martha Stewart border punch. And I have to put in a plug for Martha. I've been watching her show, and for the past few shows she has a "pot" theme. Just use your imagination... her and her guests have been and it's been quite interesting. And yes, it IS a cooking and home/gardening show. It's nice to see her silly sense of humor. Anyhoo - back to the page - I used some lace doilies and felt flowers, buttons and trims.

I may be a bit scarce as of late. I'm easing back in to the painting world so my creating time will be split between the two. I may be something here from time to time. Have a great week!

Just One for Today

I'm just sharing one card for today. Last week was a week of celebrations - starting with my littlest's birthday, then our wedding anniversary, then Valentine's Day - all in a period of 7 days. I've had way too much cake and chocolate - but never too much love. :) Hope your sweethearts' day was sweet.

This card was made using my February CupcardstoGo Kit. This kit contains a tube of Pink Paislee Pixie Stix Bubblegum pink glitter. I posted a challenge on the Cupcardstogo message board using this glitter on a shape made from a punch or die cut, and then to use it on a card.

The sticker is from Making Memories, and the rick rack is a piece from my scraps pile. I used my newest Martha Steward punch all around the edges of the patterned paper.

Have a wonderful Monday! I should have some sneak peeks later this week. ;)

How Windy Is It??

It's so windy here, that I was trying to photograph my cards outside and they kept getting blown over. THAT my dear is how windy it is. I was on the interstate yesterday and could feel the wind pushing my car. THAT my dear is how windy it is. Temps are in the 70's here. And guess what? I saw a pair of blue birds on my patio this morning. One of them was inspecting my "not yet hung" wren home. Now I need to go buy a blue bird house FAST since I have some potential tenants.

So how is YOUR hump day?

Here are a few cards. Sorry if the photos aren't that great - remember - it's WINDY here. (smile)

Guess what? I finally bought a new Martha Stewart border punch. I used it on the above card. Did I get carried away? I couldn't seem to stop so I did all the edges. The papers are from Dream Street Papers' new Secret Garden. The vintage label is from Melissa Frances, and the twill is Stampin' Up!

This one uses Bella Blvd. papers and the scalloped paper is from Sassafrass Lass. The sticker is Creative Imaginations. I used the Cuttlebug for the embossing.

Above card uses Dream Street Papers' new Heartsong paper along with embossing done with the Cuttlebug. The flair button is from American Crafts.

This baby card is the result of me playing around with texture. I layered chenille, cotton trim and rick rack. Dream Street Lullaby papers and my (new) Martha Stewart border punch.

Enjoy your hump day and thanks for stopping by!

Celebration Time

Celebration Time is the theme for the CupCardsToGo Kit Club this month! The kit has just been posted, so grab one before they are gone.

I'm so excited to be able to share the cards I made with this awesome kit. The first card is one for Miss Baylee. If you know Sonda, the owner of CupCardsToGo, you know that Baylee is her daughter, and she has a birthday this month! The design team surprised her with cards made with the February kit. Have a wonderful birthday month, Baylee!

This kit has Bella Blvd., Making Memories, American Crafts, and Scenic Route papers. You can see the kit contents HERE. Here's some more cards from this kit.

(make a wish card removed)

(congrats card removed)

(thanks a bunch card removed...)

And for this tree card using the kit's Unity Stamp

I'm so happy it's Friday. Speaking of birthdays, my little one has a birthday this weekend, so we'll be celebrating it all weekend long. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
